International Service Committee

Within International Services The Rotary Club of Key West conducts a reverse raffle every year with the proceeds supporting Hospital Albert Schweitzer, Haiti.  This project was identified in the early 1980's and this club has been dedicated to this purpose ever since.  We are proud of the fact that The Rotary Clubs of Key West have contributed more than $50,000 to this International Project.

In addition to the support given to Hospital Albert Schweitzer, The Rotary Club of Key West has supported the Polio Plus program, through member contributions to the Rotary Foundation, in its effort to globally certify the eradication of polio.  This year, one of our own, Rachael Oropeza, will be traveling to India to participate in a 10 day trip to vaccinate children againist this dreaded disease.  We commend Rachael on her dedication to this cause.  India is one of 4 remaining countries where the wild polio virus remains.

A child can be protected against polio for as little as $.60 (cents) worth of vaccine.
